1.  To provide our native birds with care for their preservation and welfare.

As the number of injured birds increases dramatically each year (primarily due to land development), it is becoming harder to handle the excess calls because of lack of space.  St. Francis has located a 9-acre property in Egg Harbor Township that will provide a convenient and yet safe haven for our birds.  The land is approximately $100,000.  There is an existing building that will give us the ability to start our operation.   The expansive acreage will allow us to build many flight cages to house the increasing number of birds.  Outdoor flight cages that will provide our birds with proper light, airflow, and exercise capability run approximately $1,200.

2.   To support the preservation of land to aid our birds.

St. Francis has been working closely with The Nature Preservation Council, another non-profit organization that attempts to acquire open lands.  With proper funding, we hope to achieve all of our goals within the year 2002.
